Taguig Mayor Lino Cayetano gets vaccination for COVID-19
(UPDATED) - Mayors Lino Cayetano of Taguig and Oscar Malapitan of Caloocan were among the local chief executives in the National Capital Region (NCR) vaccinated against COVID-19.
Cayetano on Monday said he has been vaccinated against COVID-19 with the China-based Sinovac jab, along with government frontliners, senior citizens and adults with comorbidities.
"I urge all Taguigeños to register through Taguig Registry for Access and Citizen Engagement (Trace) to secure your vaccination," he said in a statement.
Cayetano said the city government is expecting additional vaccines from AstraZeneca, Covovax, Covaxin, and Moderna "to arrive by the third quarter of the year."
"This will help the City in achieving its aim of fully inoculating the Taguig citizenry," he said.
On Tuesday, Malapitan said he took the opportunity to get vaccinated with AstraZeneca last week, along with other senior citizens.
“Nung inopen ang senior citizen, sinamantala ko na po, Monday last week po ata,” he said in an interview on TeleRadyo on Tuesday morning.
The city, he said, has run out of AstraZeneca vaccines.
In the same program, Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco said he has to monitor first his medical condition before he could avail of the vaccine.
Tiangco said he already consulted with his doctor via teleconsult and was advised to stop taking for one week one of the four maintenance medicines for his asthma.
“Kung di ako mag severe asthma pag hininto ko 'yun, saka pa lang ako pwedeng magpabakuna,” he said.
For his part, Marikina Mayor Marcelino Teodoro said he has decided to wait for the city’s next vaccine allocation to be vaccinated.
“Kulang na kulang na ang bakuna. Napag-desisyunan ko sa susunod na allocation na ako pipila. Kararating lang bakuna namin para sa seniors Lunes pero in an hour ni roll out na namin,” he said.

Governors, mayors and village chiefs were moved up in the country's vaccination priority list, a Department of the Interior and Local Government official earlier said.
Undersecretary Epimaco Densing told ANC that officials will "not need to jump the gun," because they have been upgraded in the priority list of the vaccination program.

Higit 80 pamilya, nawalan ng tirahan sa sunog sa Pasay
Nawalan ng tirahan ang mahigit 80 pamilya nang magkasunog sa isang residential area sa Pasay City Lunes ng gabi.
Tumagal ng 3 oras ang sunog na unang sumiklab sa F. Victor Street sa Tramo bago mag-alas-6:45 ng gabi. Itinaas ang responde hanggang ika-3 alarma.
Sunog sa mga bahay sa F. Victor St., Bgy. 61, Pasay City nasa ika-3 alarma na. Ayon sa BFP-NCR sumiklab ito bago mag-alas-6:45 ng gabi.
Nagtulong-tulong na rin ang mga residente sa pag-apula sa sunog at pinagdugtong-dugtong ang mga hose ng bombero para maabot ang mga natutupok na bahay.
Pasado alas-8:30 na nakontrol ng mga bombero ang apoy, pero umabot ng isa pang oras bago ito tuluyang naapula.
Ayon sa Bureau of Fire Protection, aabot sa 30 bahay ang natupok.
Kasama sa mga nasunugan ang punong barangay ng Barangay 61 na si Robin Roque, na nagsabing sa kapitbahay niya nagmula ang apoy.
"Nakita namin mayroong umaapoy sa kapitbahay, kaya nagtakbuhan kami sabi may sunog," aniya.
Isa ang pumutok na electrical wiring sa iniimbestigahan ng BFP na posibleng sanhi ng apoy.
Tinatayang P800,000 ang halaga ng natupok na ari-arian. Wala namang naisalbang gamit ang maraming nasunugan.
Namigay si Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano ng banig, kumot, face mask, at face shield sa pagbisita sa mga nasunugan. Ayon sa alkalde, inihahanda rin ang pamimigay ng relief goods at cash assistance kinabukasan.
Inilikas ang karamihan sa mga apektadong residente sa covered court ng kalapit na Epifanio Delos Santos Elementary School at sa Pasay North School.
Pinili naman ng ilang nasunugang manirahan muna sa mga kamag-anak.

SMC SLEX allots P4.6b for Batangas-Quezon road
SMC SLEX Inc., formerly South Luzon Tollways Corp., said Monday it is spending P4.6 billion this year to partially fund the construction of an expressway from Santo Tomas City in Batangas province to Lucena City in Quezon province.
The company said Toll Road 4 Project, which involves the construction of a new 66.74-kilometer, four-lane toll road, would extend the South Luzon Expressway from TR3 in Santo Tomas, Batangas to Lucena City at a total cost of P26.1 billion.
The target completion of the project is 2024.
It said construction works in Alaminos, Laguna and Tiaong, Quezon were ongoing. The right-of-way acquisition is also underway.
The new toll road will shorten the travel time from Sto. Tomas, Batangas to Barangay Mayao in Lucena City from the usual three hours to just 45 minutes.
TR4 is a part of SLTC’s 30-year concession which will last until 2036.
SMC SLEX reported a net income of P1.75 billion in 2020, down by 44.2 percent from P3.14 billion in 2019. With the significant decrease in traffic volume due to the implementation of enhanced community quarantine on March 16 in Luzon, toll revenue decreased by 27 percent to P4.55 billion last year from P6.23 billion in 2019.
“The restrictions that were imposed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic which allowed only essential travel during the period resulted in significant decrease in traffic volume,” the company said.
SMC SLEX said around 3 percent of the total monthly traffic volume were granted toll-free passage for health workers with private vehicles.
