Groundwork for MRT 7 officially starts December 8, 2016 Gracel Ortega

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and San Miguel Corp. today conducted a ceremony for the start of construction of Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT 7) at Doña Carmen, Quezon City. Conglomerate San Miguel Corporation (SMC) has full control of the MRT 7 project and its designated facility operator.

The MRT 7 project involves the financing, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of the 23-kilometer elevated railway line with 14 stations from San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan to MRT 3 North Avenue in Quezon City; and the 22-kilometer asphalt road from Bocaue Interchange of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) to the intermodal terminal in Tala.

An early report said that South Korean heavy industry company Hyundai Rotem will be constructing the said line. Hyundai Rotem assured excellent quality and timely delivery of MRT 7 train cars.

“This project is expected to bring about significant, positive economic, social, environmental commercial developments in QC, considering that 11 out of the 14 stations are strategically located in Quezon City,” Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista previously said.
