MRT 3 rehabilitation is finished, says Tugade
The MRT 3 rehabilitation has finally been finished, Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade said Monday during the weekly “Talk to the People” briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte.
“We have done this two months in advance. This can be inaugurated anytime now,” he said.
According to Tugade, the line now has 22 trains, 16 more than the previous six trains. This, he said, would reduce the headway from 11 minutes to 3 to 3. 5 minutes.
As a result, the average daily number of passengers will also increase — from 200,00 to 600,000.
The rehabilitation of MRT 3 started in 2019 after the Philippines and Japan signed a P38-billion yen (P18 billion) loan agreement for the project.
