SM Mall of Asia Redevelopment

It seems that the relaunch will happen anytime soon.

Move over "We've got it all" and "Everything's Here" because at SM...

SMSTORE
Mall of Asia

SMSTORE really needs a full-blown renovation. Ang luma na niya tingnan.

Regarding the SM relaunching, here is the summary:

SM Mall of Asia Updates

According to Mr. Hans Sy & Steven Tan, The completion of the Mall of Asia Expansion will now be moved from 2019 to 2025, Due to the existing tenants shut down one by one as in, slow progress.

Additional Updates:
- The Music Hall will be airconditioned in the future except for the Entertainment Mall
- The Northwest Bridgeway and the Southwest Bridgeway are finished but the Northeast & Southeast Bridgeways are yet to match with the finished two due to the eastern side of the Main Mall not yet expanded
- The original elevators will soon be replaced due to their outdated 2006 technology to match its new elevators in the North Parking Building
- The twin parking buildings need to be repainted especially the blues & greens
- Only 3 floors in the Entertainment Mall
Possible Future Updates:
- Entertainment Mall might reach four floors to match the Main Mall and fully airconditioned
- Twin parking buildings might add two to three floors of parking spaces due to more shoppers in MOA
- another roof garden on the 2nd floor might expand to the east until Diokno Boulevard matches its City North EDSA sibling.
Fact: Did you know, The concrete panels found in the Twin Parking Buildings were designed to withstand fire compared to aluminum composite panels in the original 2006 facade to avoid another repeat in 2001 when the Twin Towers of the original World Trade Center in New York burned and collapsed after planes flew straight into the towers.

I hope they keep the drones. It's way better than those Fireworks.

When SM MOA launched that project, the renovation, expansion and the inclusion of a football field/court, sikat na sikat pa ang larong football at Azkals nung panahong 'yon ......Ngayon, laos na sila..Sa palagay ko Mas maganda na I convert na lang nila na maging sky garden yung football field.

Since nagagamit naman nila minsan yung MOA Arena for their basketball and volleyball tournaments. Or ireserve sya para sa next na SEA games or FIBA.

Pwede nga UAAP and NCAA diyan, with the former having NU as its member. And football/soccer is sanctioned by FIFA, not FIBA which is the latter's counterpart in basketball.

also, Basketball Court and Concert Arena!!!

SM Hyper is doing great. In fact, the BDO branch beside Crossroad will be moving there next month. I feel SM will convert it into a full mall with a residential component on top in the future.

SM South Novaliches is QC's fourth SM Mall, next to North EDSA, Fairview, and Novaliches

Can't they do a vertical expansion instead?

SM Bicutan has a very limited space at hindi siguro nila mabili yung lupa ng motocross track katabi ng Building B kaya ang expansion plans, na-mothball.

SM already bought the motocross track sa tabi ng mall. May press release na rin before na may SM Bicutan expansion however wala parin up to now.

Hopefully, the redevelopment pushes through next year. But I've noticed na rin na they have started to replace their railings to glass panels so that could be the start of its renovation.

"feasible daw ang SM sa Brgy. Biday, San Fernando, La Union"

New S. Leyte solon pushes for creation of DPWH district office

By Sarwell Meniano

TACLOBAN CITY – The first solon of the newly created Southern Leyte's 2nd legislative district is pushing for the creation of an additional Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) district engineering office in the province.

Outgoing Vice Governor Christopherson Yap, the 2nd district congressman-elect, said the establishment of the office is a priority since this is crucial in the rehabilitation of infrastructure destroyed by Typhoon Odette in December 2021.

“This is the first bill that I will file since the proposal did not make it to the 18th Congress. We want a fully functional DPWH office independent from the regional office,” Yap told the Philippine News Agency (PNA) in an interview on Friday.

On Nov. 24, 2021, DPWH Acting Secretary Roger Mercado issued a directive creating the Southern Leyte sub-district engineering office to be “manned by appropriate personnel from the regional office and other district engineering offices” within Eastern Visayas.

“All fund releases for Southern Leyte sub-district engineering office (DEO) will be coursed through DPWH regional office until such time that the said sub-DEO office becomes a regular DEO and shall be called as Southern Leyte 2nd DEO,” the order reads.

Currently, the sub-district office shares office space with the DPWH Southern Leyte district engineering office in Maasin City, the capital of Southern Leyte.

Yap said the proposed location of the new DPWH office is in San Juan town, which is 106 kilometers away from Maasin.

Under existing policies, a congressional district is qualified for the creation of a new DEO for as long as it has at least 100 kilometers length of a national highway, a land area of 250 square kilometers, and a population of not less than 250,000.

The province met all the parameters, according to Yap, who will be stepping down as vice-governor end of the month.

The creation, however, requires approval from the House of Representatives.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law Republic Act 11198 on Feb. 1, 2019, dividing the province into two congressional districts.

Under the law, the first district is composed of the city of Maasin and the towns of Macrohon, Padre Burgos, Limasawa, Malitbog, Tomas Oppus, and Bontoc.

Sogod, Libagon, Liloan, San Francisco, Pintuyan, San Ricardo, St. Bernard, Anahawan, San Juan, Hinundayan, Hinunangan, and Silago comprise the second district.

Mercado sponsored the law as a Southern Leyte representative before his appointment to the Cabinet post.
