“We have actually a total of about 24, plus the first half of the year we have 7 projects completed and towards the mid-year of 2022 we have another 11 for a total of 18 projects. Towards the end of 2022, we can add another 12 projects. So if it’s 89 will be carried out in 2023 and beyond,” sabi ni Sadain

“For the big-ticket projects especially on the ODA, since this actually exempted from the election ban, so we can proceed as scheduled both for the design and the construction and for some other ODA funded projects we actually requested already the exemption from the Comelec for us to proceed in the implementation also with the DOTr and other line agencies involved in the implementation of these 112 flagship projects,” ani Sadain.

Kumpiyansa si Sadain na sinuman ang maupo sa susunod na administrasyon matapos ang halalan ay magandang ipagpatuloy ang mga nasimulang infrastructure projects ng kasalukuyang administrasyon.

“For the 119 projects, we had already completed around 18 and 12 of these will be completed towards the end of 2023… So about 89 of these will be carried out to the next administration. I think they ( the next administration ) would proceed with the implementation, most of this projects have been properly reviewed by the NEDA-ICC board and it went through a process," ani Sadain.

Kasama sa "Build Build Build" program ang ilang proyekto na may kaugnayan sa transportasyon at ang pagbubuo ng mga expressway.

LRMC: First phase of LRT-1 Cavite Extension nearly 68% complete

LIGHT RAIL Manila Corp. (LRMC), the private operator of Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), announced on Monday that the first phase of its 11.7-kilometer Cavite Extension project is now nearly 68% complete.

The P64.9-billion LRT-1 Cavite Extension project, a public-private partnership venture that the National Economic and Development Authority board approved in November 2013, aims to add an 11.7-kilometer Baclaran-Bacoor, Cavite segment to the current 18.1-kilometer train line. The new stretch will have eight stations.

The first phase of the extension consists of a seven-kilometer stretch with five stations between the Redemptorist Church area in Baclaran and Dr. Santos Ave. in Parañaque.

“Percentage completion rate for Phase 1 has already reached 67.5% as of end-December 2021,” the company said in an e-mailed statement.

The viaduct of the first phase of the project has been completed. The first phase is expected to be completed by late 2024 or early 2025.

The entire Cavite Extension is expected to be fully operational by the second quarter of 2027.

Once completed, the entire line’s daily riders are expected by the Transportation Department to increase to 800,000 passengers from 500,000, and Baclaran-Niog travel time to be cut to 25 minutes from up to two hours.

“LRMC, together with Bouygues Travaux Publics as the Engineering Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor, started the civil works in September 2019 and installed pi-girders (chief horizontal support in a structure) covering the entire stretch of Dr. A. Santos Station until Redemptorist Station,” the company noted.

“Now that the viaduct has been completed, electromechanical works (the laying of the rails and the installation of the electrical system) and the construction of the stations are set to begin.”

The company also said that it invested nearly P25 billion for system rehabilitation and for the Cavite Extension. It took over LRT-1 operations in 2015.

LRMC is the joint venture of Ayala Corp., Metro Pacific Light Rail Corp. and Macquarie Infrastructure Holdings (Philippines) Pte. Ltd.

Metro Pacific Investments Corp. is one of three Philippine subsidiaries of Hong Kong’s First Pacific Co. Ltd., the others being PLDT, Inc. and Philex Mining Corp. Hastings Holdings, Inc., a unit of PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund subsidiary MediaQuest Holdings, Inc., maintains an interest in BusinessWorld through the Philippine Star Group, which it controls. — Arjay L. Construction of Nlex section starts

Nlex Corp. has started the construction of the three-kilometer segment of the Nlex Connector, marking it with the laying of the foundation or bored piling in Sampaloc, Manila.

“Progress of the Nlex Connector Sta. Mesa Section will be more visible now as we start laying the foundation for this segment. The bored piles are crucial in providing a sturdy base for our elevated expressway project,” Nlex Corp. President Luigi Bautista said.

For the Nlex Connector Sta. Mesa Section, a total of 72 piers will be built to support the elevated, four-lane expressway which will mostly run above the Philippine National Railways lines.

It will co-exist with the Department of Transportation’s North-South railway project and will have two interchanges in España and R. Magsaysay.

“The construction activities will be systematically and precisely undertaken to ensure safety on all fronts,” Bautista noted.

For his part, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Roger Mercado committed to “provide the necessary right-of-way for the project as we target to complete this segment by end of 2022.”

The entire Nlex Connector spans eight kilometers, extending the North Luzon Expressway (Nlex) southward from the Nlex Harbor Link Caloocan Interchange, 5th Avenue/C3 Road passing through España Blvd., R. Magsaysay Blvd., and eventually connecting to the Skyway Stage 3 within the vicinity of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

It is expected to accommodate around 35,000 motorists daily and is seen to reduce travel time from Nlex to South Luzon Expressway to 20 minutes from the usual two hours, while Clark to Calamba will just be approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes instead of three hours.

Last month, Nlex announced that it will beef up its customer experience initiatives this year.

The company said initiatives for 2022 include the installation of RFID early detection feature, installation and software upgrade of RFID card readers or contactless terminals, upgrade of system servers, and replacement of toll lane equipment on the Nlex and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.
