Pagtatayo ng LRT-1 Cavite extension sisimulan sa Martes

Pormal nang sisimulan ang konstruksyon ng Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 1 Cavite extension ngayong Martes, ika-7 ng Mayo, na magdurugtog sa probinsya at Kamaynilaan.

Ayon sa Department of Transportation, mapapaiksi ng palalawiging linya ng tren ang isang oras at sampung minutong biyahe patungong 25 minutong commute mula Bacoor, Cavite hanggang Baclaran.

Ang Baclaran ang kasalukuyang nagsisilbing dulong istasyon ng ng LRT-1 malapit sa Baclaran Church sa Lungsod ng Parañaque.


Saklaw ng naturang proyekto ang pagtatayo ng walong bagong istasyon:

  • Asiaworld Station
  • Ninoy Aquino Station
  • Dr. Santos Station
  • Las Piñas Station
  • Zapote Station
  • Niog Station


"Target ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) at Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) na simulan ang partial operability ng tren mula Baclaran hanggang Dr. Santos Avenue sa Parañaque City sa 4th Quarter ng 2021," ayon sa tweet ng DOTr kahapon.

Dating hawak ng gobyerno ang LRT-1 ngunit isinapribado matapos pumirma ng concession agreement ang LRMC sa DOTr at Light Rail Transit Authority, Oktubre taong 2014.

MRT back in shape by ’21

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) targets to bring back Metro Trail Transit line 3 (MRT-3) to its original design train capacity and operating speed by the  end of the two-year rehabilitation of the line in first quarter of 2021.

The DOTr on Tuesday officially turned over the rehabilitation and maintenance contract of MRT-3 to the group of Sumitomo Corp.,  Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and the latter’s  subsidiary, TES Philippines (TESP)

Timothy John Batan, DOTr undersecretary for railways, told reporters the target is to bring  back to 20 by 2021  the number of train sets operating the line from the present 15.

The rehabilitation of the train system has started in February this year.

Sumitomo commenced procurement of tracks, train parts, and other necessary components for the comprehensive rehabilitation and maintenance of MRT-3.

 The train speed is also expected to double by from 30 to 60 kilometers per hour, and slash by half the waiting time from 7 to 10 minutes to just 3.5 minutes.

Batan said new rails will start coming in as early as July.

Effective  May 1, Sumitomo-MHI-TESP will undertake the overhaul of all of MRT-3’s 72 light rail vehicles, replace all mainline tracks, rehabilitate power and overhead catenary systems, upgrade signaling, communications and CCTV systems, and fix all of MRT-3’s escalators and elevators, among other system repairs and improvements.

 As the original designer, builder, and maintenance provider of the MRT-3 for 12 years, Sumitomo-MHI-TESP brings with it an extensive track record in railway engineering, construction, and maintenance, and is best fit for the challenging task of restoring MRT-3 to its design condition.
