The P700-million flyover and road widening of Manila-Cavite Expressway is expected to be completed before September this year which is expected to cut travel time by at least 20 minutes from Manila to Trece Martires and other towns in Cavite, the Department of Public Works and Highways said on Saturday.
“Cavitex, being the gateway to the Cavite, Laguna and Batangas provinces, responds to the challenges of progress. More cars pass Cavitex year on year, a sign that Region 4 continues to boom, and is likely to become a highly-progressive and viable area for more investments. These enhancement projects will reduce travel time in Cavitex by around 15 to 20 minutes,” Public Works Secretary Mark Villar said.
Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation has invested a total of P 700 million on the Cavitex enhancement project which aims to ease traffic in the area and to respond to the traffic congestion being experienced by motorists.
The decongestion strategy of CIC comes in two phases, phase one of which is about P400 million and will fund the road widening from MIAA to Zapote and the Southbound Flyover on the intersection of Pacific Ave. The second phase, worth about P300 million, will include the bridge widening at the Wawa, Las PIñas area.
”This project started late last year and is targeted to finish by end of July or early August 2018. The widening consists of one lane per direction and this is coupled with the construction of an elevated south-bound bridge structure at the corner of Pacific Drive, which will greatly ease traffic as this area is presently being managed through a stop-and-go traffic light signalization system that affects the throughput of vehicles,” according to Luigi L. Bautista, president, and CEO of Cavite Infrastructure Corporation.
“About 140,000 cars pass Cavitex at different periods of the day, and we would like each one of them to have a good experience to take with them after passing our expressway,” further said Bautista.
The Cavitex is the start of a road network being expanded by the Metro Pacific Tollways South, a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. It will connect to the 45-kilometer Cavite-Laguna Expressway until Mamplasan, Biñan, Laguna, giving more travel options to motorists.
