Solon wants 2 more congressional districts in Nueva Ecija

GAPAN CITY – Galing sa Puso (GP) Partylist Rep. Jose Gay “GP” Padiernos said he will push for the creation of two additional legislative districts in the province of Nueva Ecija from its present number of four districts.

According to Padiernos, Nueva Ecija is “very much qualified” for the conversion.

“The province is very much qualified to have two additional congressional districts,” said Padiernos in an interview with newsmen at the Casa Granja Events Center in Bgy. Sto. Cristo Norte, this city.

He said he would soon file the proposal to create two more legislative districts in the province.

“It is not just a possibility but my dream, my objective to sponsor a bill to create two new legislative districts,” added Padiernos, who is a native of Gapan.

Currently, there are four legislative districts in the province and if it is increased by two more districts, it will provide greater help to Novo Ecijanos, aside from the projects and assistance being laid down by GP Partylist which he heads as the first nominee.

The Nueva Ecija solon said the province is qualified to achieve this status, noting that it has already reached the requirement of 250,000 population per district.

According to the Constitution, a city or province is qualified to create a congressional district if it already has a population of 250,000.

Meanwhile, according to the 2020 census, the population of the province has reached 2.3 million and its voters at 1.5 million.

Padiernos said he and Gil Raymond “Kuya Lemon” Padiernos, his second nominee at GP, and elder brother of Gov. Aurelio Umali, are working closely to further strengthen their ranks so that more Novo Ecijano would benefit from their programs.

He also stressed that it is important that the GP PartyList is always ready for any eventuality if in case he ventures into a new “political calling” in the future.
