PTV breaks ground for Ilocos Norte Transmitter Station Project

By Myris Lee

The People’s Television Network (PTV) conducted on Tuesday, June 14, the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ilocos Norte Transmitter Station in Batac City, Ilocos Norte.

The ceremony was led by PTV General Manager Katherine Chloe De Castro-Cruz and Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) President Dr. Shirley Agrupis.

PTV and MMSU had the agreement for the establishment of a 1 kilowatt (kW) digital and 1kW analog transmitter last May 2021. The transmitter was set up in exchange for a 500 square meter MMSU property.

“With this station, we will be bringing government information dissemination closer and strengthen our reach in the Ilocos Region,” De Castro said.

“We bring you a PTV that is at the forefront of news and public information in the country, inspiring the Filipino people to become active partners in nation-building,” she added.

The MMSU official welcomed the new development in the field of information dissemination.

“We at MMSU are honored to be part of this dynamic initiative to bring about PTV’s vision to be in the forefront of news and public information and inspire the Filipino people to become active partners in nation-building,” Agrupis said.

The MMSU will be given a 30-minute weekly window to reach out to more communities to promote government programs and initiatives.

According to De Castro, the project implementation will be ready by December 2022. – ag
