CAPAZ, Tarlac — Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade expects the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 extension to Bacoor, Cavite will be completed on schedule despite delays in starting the construction.
“We are optimistic that despite the delay, we are confident that we will meet the target ... target date is 2021,” Tugade said during a press briefing here.
The LRT 1 Cavite extension project—which will connect to the existing Baclaran Station is targeted to be completed in 2021.
“Starting the actual construction is a bit delayed now. We are trying to do a catch up plan,” the Transport chief said.
The delays will be addressed once the actual construction begins, Tugade said.
Private operator Light Rail Manila Corp. earlier said the construction of LRT1 Cavite extension has been pushed back to October this year from the previous target of mid-2018 due to right-of-way issues.
The 11.7-km Cavite extension is expected to accommodate 410,000 passengers a day in its opening year and cut travel time from ParaƱaque to Bacoor to 30 minutes from 90 minutes on average. —VDS, GMA News
