Aiza recalls int’l award earned through ‘MMK’ by Crispina Martinez - Belen August 10, 2016

For 32-year-old Platinum recording artist and actress Aiza Seguerra, being part of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” a couple of years ago was an experience she won’t forget easily.
Her performance in the “MMK” episode “Songbook,” earned her the Best Dramatic Performance by an Actress trophy at the Asian TV Awards in 2002. It was an episode written and directed by the late Wenn Deramas.
“For me it’s an ‘actor’s dream’ na makasama rito sa ‘MMK’ kasi nabibigyan rin dito ang mga artista na hindi naman sikat talaga, ng pagkakataon. So, thank you very much. Hindi lang po ang mga taong ikinu-kwento ninyo ang nababago ang buhay, kami rin pong nandirito sa industriya,” shared Aiza.
Aiza is once again part of “MMK” but this time as among number of singers for its 25th anniversary commemorative album from Star Music called “MMK Life Songs.” In it, Aiza does a duet of “Handog” with Noel Cabangon.
“Sobrang thankful ako kay Ma’am Charo (Santos) for inviting me to be part of this album,” Aiza added.
Noel said, “I’m very honored to be part of this album. 25 years of ‘MMK’ is really a legacy for us Filipino people.“
Album producer Jonathan Manalo explained that choosing Aiza and Noel was a no-brainer. “’Yung tinig talaga nila malamig at masarap pakinggan,” he described. “Isipin mo ’pag pinagsama mo pa ang mga boses nila sa isang recording, sobrang tatama talaga sa inyo.”
Charo, on her part, revealed she cried the first time she heard Aiza and Noels’ version of “Handog.”
“I’ve listened to this song many times in the past pero this time parang it resonated in a different way. Nag-flashback sa akin ’yung 28 years ko sa TV and 25 years ko sa ‘Maalaala Mo Kaya.’ I hope in my own little way I’ve been able to bring inspiration to our viewers.”
Also lending their artistry to “MMK Life Songs” are OPM icons Lea Salonga, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Lani Misalucha, Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and Sharon Cuneta.
Also in the album are Janella Salvador, Jenine Desiderio, Kyla, Jona, Juris, KZ Tandingan, Darren Espanto, Charice, Jed Madela, and Piolo Pascual.
Notably, Charo and her granddaughter Julia sang the single “Sana” with Piolo.
The poem by Max Ehrmann, “Desiderata,” which was translated in Filipino by Enrico Santos, was the first single released from the album. Its music video is also growing in popularity with more than 60,000 views on YouTube and rising.
